Life is Fragile

Most of you may already know about the tragic accident that happened last week ( I posted a little about it on my facebook page).  Someone I knew and went to school with, Bunny Watson Bradley was hit by a car while riding her bike with a group of cyclists. She was life flighted  to the hospital with severe injuries and was put on life support. Early the next morning she passed away.

I met Bunny back in junior high. I always remembered her as a fun, happy person. I didn't know her very well, we hung out a few times back in junior high and high school, and I last saw her at our 10 year high school reunion a year ago. She looked as beautiful and happy as ever. My heart goes out to the entire family, especially her two little girls she left behind.
I found a few pictures of her back in the day, so I decided to put together a little tribute which includes a news clip of the incident.

The accident actually happened just above our home. The other night my husband and I drove up to the spot to see where her loved ones left flowers, posters, pictures, ect.  I was overwhelmed with feelings of sympathy for her poor husband and children. I can only imagine what they are going through right now.

Here are a couple pictures from her friend Becky's blog called All That I Love. They were able to honor Bunny's life by riding a silent lap with the tour de donut in American Fork.

"29 balloons let go for a life cut too short. Let go by those that were with her at the time of the accident. Oh, i miss her."
- Becky Kimball

It's things like this that make you appreciate EVERYTHING so much more.  I'm reminded of how fragile life really is. It made me think more about how I'm living my life each day. Am I trying hard to make each day count? Do I make sure my husband and kids know just how much I love and appreciate them? We never know when our day is going to come,  all we can do is be prepared for when it does.

I love this song by Tim McGraw, Live Like You Were Dying

"I was in my early forties,
"With a lot of life before me,
"An' a moment came that stopped me on a dime.
"I spent most of the next days,
"Looking at the x-rays,
"An' talking 'bout the options an' talkin’ ‘bout sweet time."
I asked him when it sank in,
That this might really be the real end?
How’s it hit you when you get that kind of news?
Man whatcha do?

An' he said: "I went sky diving, I went rocky mountain climbing,
"I went two point seven seconds on a bull named Fu Man Chu.
"And I loved deeper and I spoke sweeter,
"And I gave forgiveness I'd been denying."
An' he said: "Some day, I hope you get the chance,
"To live like you were dyin'."

He said "I was finally the husband,
"That most the time I wasn’t.
"An' I became a friend a friend would like to have.
"And all of a sudden goin' fishin’,
"Wasn’t such an imposition,
"And I went three times that year I lost my Dad.
"Well, I finally read the Good Book,
"And I took a good long hard look,
"At what I'd do if I could do it all again,
"And then:

"I went sky diving, I went rocky mountain climbing,
"I went two point seven seconds on a bull named Fu Man Chu.
"And I loved deeper and I spoke sweeter,
"And I gave forgiveness I'd been denying."
An' he said: "Some day, I hope you get the chance,
"To live like you were dyin'."

Like tomorrow was a gift,
And you got eternity,
To think about what you’d do with it.
An' what did you do with it?
An' what can I do with it?
An' what would I do with it?

I am so sad about the loss.. I too feel for her husband and to know that she left behind a 3 year old and a 3 month old.. I look at my kids and can't imagine.. I just can't imagine..
My other girlfriend knew her as well and also a friend that has been helping actually watch the kids... She obviously touched so many lives and it makes me think of how I will be remembered....

This is so sad. Just last week I read about a young blogger who passed away. I didn't know her personally, but she left behind a husband a two children. She was going antiquing and while driving home was hit by another car. Reading the post that her hubby left as the last and final post on her blog left me in tears.

It really does make you think each day about how intentional we're living and if we're doing all we can and dream of. For many, life is cut short and in generally, life is short. I love that song. I've been hearing a lot of songs that have had me in a reflective state this past month.

There is still so much more I know that I want to do, a legacy I want to leave behind. When I catch myself watching a lame movie or the rare re-run TV show, or even time spent on the net, I now find that I ask myself if it is the best use of my time.

Thank you for this post Crystal My thoughts are with those that Bunny left behind and prayers for her family. What a tragedy.

I already watched this video on your Facebookside. It is so very sad and it made me cry. I really hope her husband and her two beautiful little girls are okay. My son(10 yrs old) talkes to me a lot about how it would be like if I would die. He is so afraid to loose me. This is a reminder for me that we need to enjoy every minute with our family!

Some years ago a girl I knew growing up lost her life to cancer in her early thirties. She left a husband and three kids. I couldn't figure why such a positive, people loving person could go so young. My condolences.

Oh, Crystal :( Breaks my heart. I can't even begin to fathom the hurt that her family is going through. I will stop and say a little prayer for peace for them.

I didn't know Bunny that well in High School, but I always thought she was beautiful. She seemed like such a positive person. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family during this hard time. I lost my dad about 15 years ago and it has made me realize how fragile life is and whats the most important. My family. If it wasn't for them, I don't know how I would of ever gotten through those rough times.

My heart aches for her family. Crystal your montage was so beautiful and touched me so much. I am very grateful to call you my friend.
I know that Bunny is in a better place but why did it have to be so soon.
Lots of prayers.

How utterly heartbreaking and sad...especially for the girls that will grow up without their Mom. I try every day to tell my daughter that I love her and to take as many photos of us together 'just in case' so that she'll always know how much I loved her. Life is way too short! Hugs xx

You'll have to forgive me for quickly squimming through your post. At the mere mention of death and tribute, I get a knot in my throat, but of course, I don't want to miss a thing, so I read with one eye closed. I am so sorry for your loss.

Life can turn at the drop of a dime. I'm so sad to hear about your friend. Her family must be hurting. This crushes me.

My condolences to you and your friend's family. That is just awful. Live like you are dying. It's a great idea, although i do admit sometimes life gets in the way of enjoying it to the fullest.
