Conversations With a 5 Year Old

Do you ever have those days where you feel like you're on a debate team? Except you're not really on a team, you're on a desolate island left to fend for yourself with a vicious 5 year old as your opponent.

5 year old DAUGHTER might I add.

Lately everything I say to my daughter turns into a two hour argument which in the end leaves me throwing fits and saying things like:

"Uh huh"

"No I'm not"

"Ya huh... I think I know what I'm talking about... I AM a mom ya know"

"I'm telling daddy"

"SEEAAAAANNNNN, Lily's not listening to me"

Once I run out of all my ingenious rebuttals, I tastefully complete the dispute by sticking out my tongue.

Then she say's things like:

"MOM!!! You have to be nice to your childrenS   or Santa won't bring you ANY toys"

"If you don't let me watch a movie then I'm not EVER going to brush my teeth again!!!"

Then Sean say's:

"GIRLS!  Stop fighting right now or you're both going to time out!!!"

*sigh*

I think I DO need a time out.

Okay, now you HAVE to watch this video.  I'm serious!  No no, I'm REALLY serious!!! Watch it okay.

Things We Do

Oh the things we do to entertain ourselves during church.

Yes, we're late pretty much EVERY Sunday.

All Kinds of Weird

Okay don't get too grossed out, this is all part of nature.
So we have a dog, her name is Dresden (named after my mission in Germany), and she is the cutest darn Shih Tzu ever. We really want her to have a litter of puppies so we decided to hold off on getting her spayed...

And you know what that means_______

That's right, she has her period about every 6 months, YUCK!!!  We bought her these little dog diapers in hopes to lighten this horrific experience a tad. But really, they don't help much. They just come right off. We even tried duck taping it on.
No luck.

Oliver's not quite sure what to think of it.

She looks a little PMSy here, but don't worry I gave her some Diet Coke, Lindor Truffles, and a few pieces of Twizzlers liquorice.

You know, all the things that are pretty much a necessity during that time of month... meaning it's absolutely imperative for Sean to treat my "hormonal" time with the utmost respect... meaning these items must be readily available at any given time.

If he wants to survive that is.

Wait, who were we talking about again?
Oh, yah.
So back to the subject of animals. Have you ever seen a hairless cat?  Austin Powers and Friends doesn't count. I mean in REAL LIFE?

Well I have, and it's quite the experience. My friend Andrea has one and brings her over to visit from time to time. My kids love her and call her "Hairless Cat" instead of Char, which is her real name.

Isn't she beautiful!!!

Now for the REAL question.

A Little of This a Little of That

So, how many bachelor fans do we have out there?

Okay,  I'm curious, what do you all think about Brad Womack being back for another chance? Is he sincere? Or does he just want to mac with a bunch of girls again.

And what do you think of Michelle? I'm not trying to gossip or anything, but did you know that my husband grew up with her?  I actually met her once a couple years ago at the zoo. She was so nice too!  I have to admit though, I was a little jealous of how pretty she was.  When my husband and I ran into her that day and he introduced us, I was thinking to myself, wow, she's gorgeous. When we walked away my first question to Sean was, "so did you date her "?  The answer was no, which to be honest was what I wanted to hear :) I'm sorry, when it comes to my husband,  I get a little... how do you say...
POSSESSIVE
Thankfully my husband never looks twice at another girl and always makes me feel like I'm the most beautiful women to him, which fulfills a major need of mine :)
Speaking of the Bachelor and how great my husband is, the other night I actually felt like I was on one of those amazing dates from the show. Sean planned an elaborate date for us over the weekend, could have even been a scene from the movie Pretty Women. Okay I'm exaggerating a bit, but I do like to pretend I'm Vivian sometimes.
We always have a weekly date night, but Sean decided he wanted to surprise me with an extra special night out on the town. He made reservations for us at the Melting Pot.  It's a restaurant down town Salt Lake City that specializes in Fondue entrees and desserts.  I was so excited because I've never been there before and the food was to die for!!!!

THEN, as if that wasn't enough, he bought us some great seats to the Opera! Seriously!!! What kind of husband does that... 

MINE :) 

Don't mean to brag, but I just LOVE him :) He hates to go to plays, and musicals too, so it really meant a lot to me.  The cool thing about this show is that it was Hansel and Gretel in GERMAN!!! There was a screen above with subtitles, but I was so excited to get to hear it all in German ( I learned German from serving and LDS mission in Germany).

It was so good I almost peed my pants!!! 

I mean... it was better than Pirates of Penzance.

On another note, I got some new boots and jeans, yay!!!

I got them at Buckle, and right now all their boots are on sale!!! I couldn't find these boots on their website, but I did find them somewhere else. You can click HERE to see them. The jeans are a pair of their BKE skinny jeans, which I absolutely LOVE, probably because I LOVE wearing boots so much and skinny jeans look awesome with boots!

So as you all know, I'm a stickler to the "out with the old in with the new" rule. Each time I get anything new I get rid of something old. So, I would like to give away a pair of boots and a pair of jeans to the first person who tells me they want them, and will also be willing to pay for the shipping. Just leave a comment with your email and we'll discuss the details that way.
These boots are a size 8.5 and I got them from Nordstroms for around $100. I actually don't know what brand the jeans are and can't remember where I even bought them. They are a size 5.

Crazy Cat Lady

I've always been a major cat lover.  I remember obsessing over cats as a child. I desperately wanted one of my own and the only hindrance was my moms allergies to them.
I did have a few OUTDOOR cats, or so my mom thought. When winter came around my heart ached as I watched them sit outside the sliding glass door in the bitter cold wishing to be inside where it was cozy and warm.  I would sneak them through my bedroom window at night and I even went as far as hiding a litter box in my closet.  I couldn't get enough of those darn felines. I think I had five all together at one point.
Soon after Sean and I got married he surprised me with a kitten!!! It was the happiest day of my life!!!
Okay, not really, but it was a pretty good day :) I obsessed over that cat like it was my own baby.
Soon after that I wanted yet another kitten. So we got one. Then I wanted ANOTHER, but don't worry, I didn't get one. I had a baby instead which cured the obsession. Those cats that were once my babies became nothing more to me than a furry nuisance. Cleaning out that litter box became a chore rather than something I did out of love for them. The constant shedding didn't make things any better either, funny how I never noticed it before.
So,  sadly times have changed and my poor cats weren't getting the attention they deserved. One of my cats who is mostly an outdoor cat now rarely comes around anymore, but the other one, well she desperately needed a new home. So I finally gave in to the idea. I'd been putting it off for years because I was afraid I would miss her too much.
Just three days ago, a little family came by to pick up my sweet little Jasmine :(

I'm not going to lie, I DO miss her...

I think my dog misses her too :) she was more obsessed with her than I ever was.

Lily still doesn't know that Jasmine is gone, I'm kind of curious to see how long it takes before she notices, hopefully she won't notice at all. I wouldn't want her to be sad about it.

...but each time I think of how cute, cuddly, and funny she was I just try to replace the thought with all the things I didn't like about owning a cat.

One thing Sean and I argue about this time of year, is WHEN to put up the Christmas tree. We had a little debate about putting it up BEFORE Thanksgiving but he's learned to follow the very wise quote, "Happy Wife, Happy Life" :) :) :)

Twins!

No, I'm not pregnant with twins. Actually not pregnant at all,  that I know of.  If you read my "Thinking Maternity" post, then you'd know that it's very much a possibility for me to be pregnant, not with twins though :). Don't worry I'll keep you all posted AS SOON as it happens :). Anyway, the real reason for this post is to tell you about Lily's new favorite doll.

I got this stuff for her as a back to school gift. Actually we already had the doll, and it's not an American girl doll, we got it from Costco last year for $35. They are selling them again right now for Christmas, you can find them online too. The outfits are from K-Mart and they're called What A Doll Girls. You can buy the dolls there too but I personally didn't think they were as cute as the Costco ones:) The outfit sets are only $25 in stores and $20 online. I just went online and bought her a few more outfits to give to her as birthday gifts. She's turning the big "5" this month, and she's extremely excited about it.

 There is another company called My Twin, that sells all kinds of cute stuff like this, but WAY expensive. Here are some of the things I've been eyeing, and MAYBE I'll have to splurge on this adorable doll bunk bed for one of Lily's Christmas presents.

And I just wanted to throw in these recent pictures I took of little Olly and his daddy. I'm pretty proud of the way they turned out, thanks to my wonderful friend Carrie. She's teaching me some of her skills.
