My Work Out Routine

The other day as I was getting ready, my daughter comes in and begins playing with the doughy stretched out skin that is now covering the, once upon a time, descent looking abs. She was like, "it's squishy mom, why is it like that", hmmm, don't ya just LOVE kids.

"Well, honey, this is what happens to skin after you have a baby in your tummy", she was like, "oh, I don't want my tummy to look like THAT"......ha, well neither do I :)

The price we pay. (sigh)

Well, she did bring to my attention that I've been neglecting that particular area of my body,
and it's beginning to show. I gained almost 50 lbs with this baby. I'm now at the weight I want to be (thanks to cleansing), but have not done much to build up my abs since giving birth. I do need to tighten up a bit in other area's as well. So I'm back to my bootcamp workouts instead of the lazy 30 min. walk on the treadmill I've been doing these days. I'm a new fan of Blair's McFatty Monday's. So, I thought today would be a great day to talk about my "mcfatty" abs :)

I tend to get bored easily when it comes to working out, so here is my routine full of multi-tasking. I'm all about getting as much done as possible, even when I work out.

  • 10 min. run or walk on Treadmill ( I don't run much anymore these days, so I usually walk fast on an incline) and read one chapter of my book.
  • Work 2 different muscle groups ( I pick the ones that feel most flabby for me, example, yesterday I started with my glutes and inner thighs) 3 sets of 12-15 on each while listening to my work out music.
  • 10 min. on the Elliptacle ( I try to get the most out of the ten min. so I increase the intensity quite a bit so I get a good sweat on). While doing this I listen to something spiritual, motivation, or educational. I love downloading audiobooks to my ipod.
  • Work another 2 muscle groups, example: Biceps and triceps 3 sets of 12-15 each./Listen to my work out music
  • 10 min. on the Stair Climber (play around on my phone, texting, emailing, Facebook, Twitter, blogging, planning out my week and adding things into my calender)
  • Do some MAJOR abs, for now I feel some urgency to get my abs into shape, planning a cruise soon, and would like it if I didn't have a pot belly. Do it till it burns, so the next day you're sore :)
  • 10 min. on the rower or bike/ listen to my FAVORITE up beat songs. Below are a few of my favorites.
Anything from Lady Gaga
Boom Boom Pow
Technologic Draft Punk
Sandstorm Tunnel Alliance
Jai Ho! Pussycat dolls

This is my way of strengthening MIND, BODY & SOUL, all in about an hour. I LOVE it, goes by fast, and I feel incredible when I'm done.

And I'm not afraid to admit that I wear these body shaper cami's DAILY.
When people say I look good for just having a baby, I immediately say, "oh, I'm wearing a body shaper", my husband laughs at me, and say's, "why do you always feel as though you HAVE to disclose that"? LOL, I don't know... I guess I just feel like I can't take credit for it unless it's real :)
Let's face it, no matter how much weight you lose after baby, you'll most likely always have that muffin top, and that's never a pretty sight. I like the feeling of being held in, and not feeling the skin jiggle when I walk. I used to wear SPANX, but they are SO uncomfortable, not to mention, impossible to get in and out of. Found myself NOT drinking water just to avoid having to go to the bathroom.
I really love these cami's, I get them at Target, or you can find them HERE for $20.

I absolutely love this post, thank you. I have that lovely tummy skin too. Oh but the four babies are worthy every stretch mark. :)

Starting the cleanse tomorrow!

LOVE your maternity photo! It's gorgeous...you're so insanely beautiful!!

Girl, it took me 2 years to lose my baby weight. I thought I never would. I did. I gained about 8 lbs back, too. Luckily, my daughter hasn't found my chubs yet...but I'm sure she will! haha I totally need to get some of those shapers!

I need to head over to see the Staker family's blog again. I stayed up so late one night reading all the posts and I just cried my eyes out. My daughter was in the hospital for 7 weeks and I could relate to a lot of their fears..although, not as scary as what they are going through. We were blessed with much hope.

Oh I'm giving balls away at my blog. LOL You'll laugh! ha!

I am so excited - just got a treadmill this weekend! Can't wait to get rid of all this 'baby' fat. Naw, it's not baby fat, it's Doritos/Potato Chip/ Snickers Bar fat! Hehe...

I've been meaning to get myself some body shapers/slimmers, just for those certain outfits where I really need to have a sleak silhouette! Thanks for the recommendation.

You MUST post your remodel video-- I loved your anniversary video so much, you've set the video bar high for yourself!

Haha, this reminds when my son asked me at the dinner table with the in-laws why my butt jiggled like jello. I couldn't get to the gym fast enough.

Great interval training. I run 35 minutes on the treadmill then do weights, but maybe breaking it up would be so much better...

I hear ya.. my son just turned 5 and I'm just now losing the last 5 lbs and muffin top (thanks to P90X.) Stretch marks are here to stay apparently...

My son is 3 1/2 and I am just now starting to lose weight. I have lost about 20 lbs in the past few months.

I am with ya on the Cami's. I LOVE THEM. The funny thing is that I do the same thing you do about telling people about them. I think that I do it because I want other people to know that there are things that can help. I can't take all of the credit for how they help, but I do take the credit for doing my research in finding them. :-)

Good for you on the work out routine. The muffin part is the part that I am working on right now.

GOOD LUCK!

I'm going to have to pick up some of those slimming tanks after I have this baby in a few weeks! Did you ever try a post-pregnancy belly wrap? I think I'm going to give it a whirl! I keep hearing good things about them! I can't wait to work out again though and get REAL results!

Hey, Crystal! I have fell off the blog commenting train... b/c I, TOO, am trying to have more balance with my life! It seems impossible! I particularly was laughing at your date nite w/hubby when he "kindly" tried to tell you that uou can't do it like the Duggers. Don't forget, she has ALL ALL ALL of her older kids buddy up with a younger and, literally, take care of them. Keep that in mind. I loved your schedule, too... but sadly I have to wake my 7 and 5 year old up at 6:15 am for school!! Then, the younger 2 head out either at 8 am or 9:15 am for church preK. I need a better schedule, too!! Miss chatting/commenting w/you! I'm trying to blog a little less (like you), so even if I'm not commenting, I am reading!! Hugs, Kat

Wow, that post got me inspired to finally start working out again! Totally know what you mean by when saying that even if you are back at a good weight there are kinda "loose" areas ... I really should start working out again. I know I do. It's just rather hard to put in that extra time. I can only work out when hubby takes care of baby boy ... and as he works and that does not happen as often as I like I want to do so many things in that time that "working out" never gets to be priority. But I know it should be at least sometimes. Will be working on that!
Am impressed with your multitasking during working out! WOW! I actually quite enjoy to "stop twirling" while working out :-) But I love the idea of the autiobooks. I do love listening to audiobooks but at the moment can't do it cause baby boy is with me all the time. But that sounds like a nice opportunity - while working out! So I have even two reasons now to start ... get in shape and listen to some books. ;-)
Thanks for that great post!

LOL! I need to come here more often! We have some things in common. I too, LOVE to workout, and multi-task. But I have been rollerblading for exercise for some time now, and have wanted more time to do more reading etc. (I must say though, that the meditation and prayer time during rollerblading is AWESOME!)

So.... I am insanely inspired by this post to start doing part of my workout inside... while reading (scriptures, BLOGS! :o ;D)ETC. He he. :)
Thanks for the tips, Crystal! ;D

PS I too don't like to take credit for anything that isn't real. I'm embarrassed to say, I won't even edit my photos, and hardly ever even wear make up. I just like to keep things REAL! Heavens knows most people have a hard enough time comparing themselves to "real" - and then to have all that extra stuff that distorts reality and raises expectations beyond achievement is just creating a never ending "searching"... but never "finding" society.

I like your honest style! ;D Just be mindful that everyone isn't like us, and much of what we see... ISN'T REAL.

Corine :D
